I am Senior Researcher at the National Laboratory for Scientific Computing, Petrópolis, Brazil. I have been trained as a mechanical engineer and applied mathematician. My field of specialization is topological asymptotic expansions of shape functionals with PDEs constraints in singularly perturbed geometrical domains. The main topic of current research is the theoretical development and application of the topological derivative method to shape and topology optimization, inverse problems, image processing, multi-scale material design and mechanical modeling including damage and fracture evolution phenomena.
